5/15/2023 0 Comments El deafo by cece bell![]() ![]() Teens and tweens alike are drawn to the graphic novel El Deafo. This book will most likely appeal to older children and tweens. The story is hilarious, but it also contains some sad and serious moments. The main characters are rabbits, which is something I’ve never seen in a graphic novel. The illustrations are stunning (I’ve never seen anything like it in a graphic novel). I cannot recommend El Deafo highly enough. The book is filled with humor and heart, and it will resonate with any child who has ever felt different or struggled to fit in. ![]() The author, Cece Bell, uses her own experiences to tell the story of how she navigated the challenges of growing up deaf in a hearing world. ![]() El Deafo is a quality piece of children literature because it is an honest and intimate portrait of what it is like to be a deaf child growing up in a hearing world. ![]()
